Project Description

The slope was excavated and benched in 5metre bays using a trench box system to construct the shear key. A tracked machine was placed at the toe of the slope to load all the arisings into dumpers. The dumpers then translocated the arisings to the compound area for off-site disposal. Upon completion of the excavation works geotextile which was compliant with Network Rail Standard and mechanically bonded was positioned and secured on the slope.

Stone was then transported from the site compound to the worksite using 10 tonne dumpers. The stone was then placed by the excavator into the 5metre bay and compacted using a tracked machine with a hydraulic compactor from the bottom of the slope. The new profile of the slope was then trimmed using a tracked dozer. Upon completion of the embankment re-graded imported topsoil was placed on the finished profile. On completion of the works all boundary fencing was re-instated.
