Project Description / Scope of Works
Regrade of a section of railway embankment on the SPC1 line between 48m 0214yds and 48m 0497yds, both sides (North London).
The works included the construction of a gabion wall varying between 2m and 3m height over a length of 225m length, as well as the installation of 12,000t of compacted granular fill with associated cess walkway and drainage works.
QTS worked in close liaison with BAM Nuttall to maximise cost efficiencies including use of recycled materials from local source and re-use of arisings.
All works were completed within programme & budget, and without any accident or incident.
Excellent feedback on works quality was received from Network Rail on completion of the works.
Key Issues
- Develop construction methodology to maximise outputs by minimising interface with operational railway/third parties.
- Limited materials availability.
