Project Description / Scope of Works
The works at Falmer Cutting (Brighton) consisted of soil nailing works to a railway cutting up to 13m high on ELR: BTL between 2m62ch and 3m49ch.
In order to maximise mid-week working, a catch fence was installed at the toe of the cutting for soil nails installation using a 20t excavator from the cutting crest.
The remainder of the works were carried out using RRV mounted rig during possession.
A total of 2200m of soil nails combined with 4500m² of netting were installed as part of this project.
All works were completed within programme & budget, and without any accident or incident.
Key Issues
- Derive methodology/temporary works design to maximise non possession working.
- Management of large workforce in short timescales.
