Drumlanrig

Geotechnical Case Study

The north portal of Drumlanrig Tunnel on the GSW was overgrown with trees and required works to the rock cutting approach, as well as repairs to the drainage system.  Significant de-vegetation was safely carried out (mostly in daylight while trains were running), to allow Designers to inspect the slopes.  Under a disruptive possession, the main rock face was scaled of loose material and rockfall netting installed.  Follow up works included a new drainage scheme, fencing and repairs to a scoured embankment
