East Coast Rock Cuttings 2015/16
Geotechnical Case Study
A total of 32 slopes spread over 9 sites and 12 miles make up this extensive project. Delivered over 35 weeks, this project was carried out concurrent with the design, allowing the works to be carried out in one visit. As well as reducing costs, this approach reduces the risk to the line by ensuring any remediation required (following scaling or de-vegetation) is carried out immediately.
This design and build project was delivered as part of the RCDP (Scotland) Earthworks Contract. Delivered with maximum utilisation of day-shift working, over 25,000m2 of rock containment mesh was installed as well as crest ditches, catch-fences and rock dowels. By setting up a safe system of work, QTS were able to maximise day-shift working to install anchors at crests (with trains running), minimising costs and reducing safety risk to our operatives.
