Patrick Street Greenock
Drainage Case Study
QTS were contacted by Scottish Water to an emergency in Aug 2011 to a blocked sewer which was flooding gardens in the Patrick Street area in Greenock.
By the time QTS arrived on site some 1.5 hours later the road was collapsing and gardens were under a metre of water and sewage. Having surveyed the area we quickly brought in a Recycler Vactor to site and cleared the blockage.
We then plugged the outlet of the upstream manhole and over-pumped the sewage from that manhole to the manhole beyond the collapse and this got the flow going again and would allow us to carry out the repairs to the old brick sewer. This was done by sleeving the brick sewer with a pipe and patch lining the joint sealing it in place. We cleaned up the gardens and carried out a CCTV survey of the sewer from the top of Patrick Street to the bottom to ensure all was running freely.
We then backfilled the excavation and resurfaced back to the original condition.
