Role and responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the CEM.
  • Act as the track technical lead for construction engineering across frameworks.
  • Assist the design co-ordinators during design development.
  • Attend Interdisciplinary Check (IDC) and Design Development Review (DDR) meetings as required and close out any issues or concerns.
  • Liaise with the Project Managers for day-to-day engineering management and co-ordination of the technical and engineering activities related to track engineering across frameworks.
  • Accept and approve discipline related Task Briefings
  • Write, review and sign off Track Monitoring Plans (TMP), Critical Rail Temperature Monitoring Plans (CRTMP), Critial Rail Temperature assessments and maintain the CRT register.
  • Responsibility for the review of TEF3203 for projects.
  • Mentor, review and sign off new Handback Engineers as required in line with NR/L3/TRK/1020.
  • Act as a Handback Engineer when required.
  • Ensure persons involved in works affecting engineering compliance are competent to undertake their duties.
  • Liaise with the Survey Manager to ensure Track Monitoring and HBE activities are being completed as per the Track Monitoring Plans.
  • Management of all track engineering activities from initial enquiry to contract completion – including design, quotation, pre-planning processes, possession planning, site management, and project review meetings.
  • Be accountable for confirming that track works done have been constructed to the required design and relevant standards.
  • Organise and undertake briefings to the team for any change in engineering standards or process within the discipline, recording the briefing.
  • Identify any deviations from any standards (e.g. Network Rail Standards) and submit applications for deviations where appropriate
  • Knowledge and understanding of collaborative working.
  • Monitoring of personnel working hours.
  • Assist QTS Management and in other aspects of the Company as required.

Skills Required:

  • Track CRE experience (preferred).
  • Experience with interface between railway Civil engineering projects and P-Way.
  • Hold or held TR12/13 HBE Level 3/4 competence.
  • PWI Membership (preferred).
  • Achieved or working towards I.Eng or C.Eng.
  • Experience of working in a collaborative environment delivering civils schemes, standards and procedures.
  • Experience in attending NR Lead Discipline Engineer Cascades.
