QTS Group has won the UK Project between £500K and £1M for Ratho Rock Cutting at the 2025 Ground Engineering Awards.

The project involved installing high-tensile netting and ground anchors, with real-time adjustments during vegetation clearance. Multiple crews worked efficiently, managing a tight timeline and ensuring minimal downtime. A hidden 6-metre-high retaining wall, uncovered during the work, was added to the Network Rail database.

A critical rock cutting along the Glasgow-Edinburgh railway was secured through a five-day, round-the-clock operation. The 200-metre-long cutting, obscured by vegetation for years, posed significant risks, but limited access prevented proper inspections.

We were honoured to have received the UK Project between £500K and £1M for Ratho Rock Cutting at the GE Awards. It’s fantastic to be recognised for the outstanding work done on the Renewals and Enhancements Geotechnical Framework by our dedicated team.
We strive to deliver high quality geotechnical work in every project we take on. This award is a testament to the hard work, passion, and commitment our team has given to the project.
