QTS Group has officially opened a new play area adjacent to Abington Primary school.

Following three weeks of hard work from the contractor’s Scotland civils and geotechnical team, an unused space next to the school has been transformed into a safe, natural play area that can be accessed directly from the playground.

QTS, who recently carried out essential rail maintenance works in the surrounding area on behalf of Network Rail, worked with the school to develop their plans for the site.

As well as utilising the skills of the operational team, a number of support-based staff used their allocated volunteer days to help make the project a success.

We have been working within the Abington area and surrounding communities for over a year now, so when the opportunity arose for us to help make a lasting difference, we jumped at the chance.
The team has worked incredibly hard to create a fun play area for the children, even getting them involved in planting trees and building bug hotels that will help the biodiversity of the site too.
We are proud of the positive impact we have on the communities we work within and being able to create something like this, that has a lasting impact and legacy, makes it all worthwhile.

We are grateful to the QTS team for their efforts in creating this incredible space for our children. They have transformed an unused area into something that will benefit the community for years to come.
The children have loved being involved and particularly enjoyed the grand opening, and Teddy Bear’s picnic. It was a lovely way to end the school year.
